The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Goal 11 is about all of these dimensions, with a specific focus on urban areas and settings. This synthesis report is the first publication showing the progress, challenges and opportunities of global monitoring of this Sustainable Development Goal.
This training manual provides what participants should learn, how long training on the module should take and facilitator’s notes to assist him to facilitate the module better by identifying and highlighting key points to focus on and prepare for. The manual contains 2 specific modules: Module 1 for indicator 11.1.1 and Module 2 for indicator 11.2.1.

VLRs are powerful accelerators of the localization of the SDGs. This document illustrates disaggregated data on the publication of VLRs as of November 2021. It also shows the Agency's support to VLRs through different workstreams.
The COVID-19 crisis also offers a unique global opportunity to demonstrate that it is possible to provide housing and land tenure security to all. It also shows the importance of sustainable housing sectors to strengthen the preparedness of urban areas to respond to extreme events. Cities and local governments around the world can move towards reducing inequalities and poverty levels and providing access to adequate housing for all, as a catalyst for the achievement of other fundamental rights.
UN-Habitat and UCLG joined forces to advance the global debate on the localization of the SDGs through the first ever edition of the VLR-VSR Days, held virtually between July 14 and July 16. This report overviews the sessions and their outcomes.

This toolbox has been created to support local governments that are interested in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of SDGs using VLRs, while contributing to local democracy. The toolbox is based on a detailed analysis of four Swedish municipalities that published their VLRs in 2021.
